A PLETHORA OF volleyball was seen last weekend as the Sleepy Eye Cyclones Tournament took place all day Saturday and Sunday at St. Mary’s. Over 30 teams from Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, and upper Michigan traveled to compete in the tournament. On Saturday, first place in the 12U groups went to Red Rock Central. In the 14U category, 212 Central from the Buffalo Lake-Hector area earned gold, while silver went to Topspin, from the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop area. On Sunday, the Le Sueur Henderson Giants took the first place gold, while the Southwest Sonic team from Springfield took silver. Red Rock Central took home first in the 18U category. The three Sleepy Eye teams played on Sunday. The 15-1 team placed fifth in pool play, while the 15-2 team took second in pool play and second overall out of 10 16U teams. Finally, the 16-1 Sleepy Eye team took second in pool play and took fourth out of the 10 16U teams.
