  • SE Public boys honored at basketball banquet

  • The Sleepy Eye Public boys basketball team held its banquet on March 23 where a number of athletes were honored for their performances during the season.

  • The Sleepy Eye Public boys basketball team held its banquet on March 23 where a number of athletes were honored for their performances during the season.
     
    Senior Brandon Polesky was given his Tomahawk Conference Player of the Year Award during the banquet. Polesky was also an Academic All State Selection this year. Other academic selections were Matthew Miller and Jacob Rossbach, who made the Academic All Conference Team.
     
    Polesky was also awarded for his record breaking season. Polesky ended his high school basketball career with 1,422 points, behind Ryan Meyer who scored 1,574 in his career. However, Polesky holds the record for points scored in a single season after scoring 721 during this past season. He also has the record for most points scored in a single game with 40, as well as most made 3-pointers in a season with 178. Finally, he also holds the career assists record with 341.
     
    The six seniors recognized at the banquet were Marc Riederer, Mario Rivera, Spencer Weicherding, Austin Trebesch, Juan Montemayor, and Polesky.
