  • We apologize to the devoted City-wide garage salers! I missed getting the ad form in Monday’s Reminder, but you will find it in today’s Herald-Dispatch on page 13A. For those who want to be assured their garage sale is included on the handy map, please be sure you have your form into our office no later than Wednesday, April 2 by noon. No late forms will be accepted on the map. Keep in mind the map is included in the Brown County Reminder, April 7, the Herald-Dispatch and So MN Peach April 10.

People have asked us why we schedule it so early. It isn’t any earlier than in previous years, but here is our logic.

Later in April, we run into prom at both SE Public and St. Mary’s Schools. Next comes Mother’s Day, fishing opener and the very next week is graduation at SE High School and after that is Memorial Day and graduation at St. Mary’s High School. When you look at the month of May, it isn’t much better either. Also, since the City-wide garage sale has been that weekend for so many years, people are looking for it. Whether you agree with our logic or not, that is our reasons for keeping it on the same weekend it has been for years. We will request sunshine and warmer temps to try to help you out!

Thought for the week: Cooking - “This is the most complicated meal I have ever tried to cook,” Helen Hayes, winner of two Academy awards, warned her family.
“If it isn’t alright, I don’t want anybody to say a word. We’ll just get up from the table, without comment, and go down to the hotel for dinner.”
She returned some 10 minutes later to find the family seated expectantly at the dinner table - wearing their hats and coats.
