  • The River Valley speech team will present its annual public performance featuring over 40 speakers on Tuesday, March 18, beginning at 8:15 p.m., immediately following the annual music concert for grades six through eight at Springfield Public School.

Speakers from Springfield and Sleepy Eye Public Schools in grades 7-12 will present selections they have rehearsed and with which they’ve competed during the past few months of the regular speech season. Speeches will represent those from most of the 13 MSHSL categories including drama, humorous, prose, poetry, great speeches, oratory, storytelling, extemp reading, creative expression, duo, informative speaking and discussion. There are no extemporaneous speakers on this year’s team.

Several classrooms in the lower level of the high school will be used for the performance. It is possible to move from room to room between speakers. There is no admission charge for the event which is open to the general public.
