Ron Mathiowetz was born February 10, 1948 in Sleepy Eye, to Joseph and Ida (Treml) Mathiowetz. He grew up on a farm near Comfrey and attended grade school in Leavenworth. Ron was a graduate of Comfrey High School in 1966 and Jackson Vocational School in 1968 where he studied as an auto body technician. He served his country with the National Guard for four years and did his basic training at Fort Lewis, Wash. Ron worked for many years at Motor Inn in Estherville, before starting his own business, Ron's Auto Sales, in Comfrey where he worked until his death. He was united in marriage to Beverly Dahna on April 5, 1986 in Estherville and the couple resided in Mountain Lake, where they raised their two sons, Todd and Eric. Ron was a longtime member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Comfrey. He loved cars. Whether selling, buying or attending Nascar events. His love of cars allowed him to travel to car auctions and car races and he shared this love with his family. Many family vacations were created by ferrying cars back to Minnesota.
Ron was well-loved by his wife, Bev; sons, Todd and wife Darcy of Mt. Lake, and Eric of Sioux Falls; sister Shirley Nellis; brother Kenneth and wife Penny; grandchildren, Hunter, Madison, and Tyler; sisters-in-law, Janet (Virgil) Petersen, and Judy Lundy; brothers-in-law, Duane (Connie) Dahna, and Bill (Becky) Dahna; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Vern and Doris Dahna; and brothers-in-law, Ken Nellis and Steve Lundy.
