  • The Brown County American Dairy Association crowned their 2014 Dairy Princesses at a coronation on Saturday, Jan. 25 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in New Ulm.

  • The Brown County American Dairy Association crowned their 2014 Dairy Princesses at a coronation on Saturday, Jan. 25 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in New Ulm.
     
    The 2014 Brown County Dairy Princesses are Mary Rosenhammer, daughter of John and Patty Rosenhammer and Maggie Sellner, daughter of Loran and Heidi Sellner, all of Sleepy Eye.
     
    Mary is a senior at St. Mary’s High School, active in cross country, basketball and track as well as 4-H and FFA. After high school Mary will complete her military training with the National Guard and attend South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D., where she will be majoring in General Agriculture.
     
    Maggie is also a senior at St. Mary’s High School where she participates in dance, softball and 4-H. After high school Maggie plans to attend Ridgewater College in Hutchinson to study Early Childhood Development with the possibility of later continuing her education at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.
     
    The 2014 Brown County Dairy Ambassadors were also chosen at the coronation. They include Sabrina and Isabella Portner, daughters of Tom and Mary Portner; Rebecca Rosenhammer, daughter of John and Patty Rosenhammer; Bethany Seifert, daughter of Steve and Barb Seifert and Natalie Sellner, daughter of Dean and Karen Sellner, all of Sleepy Eye.
     
    In addition to recognizing the 2014 royalty, the Brown County American Dairy Association also recognized the 2013 Brown County Dairy Princesses Molly Lax and Katelyn Johnson.
     
    The candidates were judged on their communication and presentation skills, personality, enthusiasm for dairy promotion and general knowledge of the dairy industry through a personal interview, mock radio interview and speech.
     
    Mary and Maggie will have the opportunity to compete in May to be a finalist for the Princess Kay of the Milky Way.
