Sign up for Disney on Ice announced
The winter weather is getting to be a challenge for Discovery Time and School Readiness. Make-up days are being added where there might have been time off. Please note these changes on the weekly newsletters that the teachers provide.
The first Toddler class did not begin on schedule, but hopefully will begin on Monday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m.
In the case of late starts, preschool is not held, but afternoon and evening ECFE classes are held. In case of early outs, all evening activities are canceled just like on no school days.

Some outings were scheduled for the winter season and sign-up times are coming. On the list are The Minnesota History Center in St. Paul on Wednesday, Feb. 19 for the display on Prohibition. Sign up requested by Feb. 5.
The Minneapolis Home and Garden Show at the Minneapolis Convention Center has been planned for Thursday, Feb. 27 with sign-up needed by Feb. 20.
Disney on Ice at the Target Center is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, 11 a.m. matinee. Sign-up is needed by Feb. 14.

Brown County Extension Service is offering an After School 4-H Adventure in Science beginning Tuesday, Feb. 4. The group will meet from 3:15-4:15 p.m. in the Sleepy Eye School Cafeteria or Lindahl Room. Short term registration forms are available at the Extension office or this office. Forms are due Jan. 31 to the Extension office.

Smart Driving classes have been scheduled each month until the end of the current school year. The next renewal one will be on Monday, Feb. 10, 1-5 p.m. A first time class is planned for Saturday, Feb. 22, beginning at 8 a.m. The renewal class for March is on the 13th beginning at 5:30 p.m. All persons 55 and older are invited to participate. Taking a class or renewing a certificate provides a 10 percent discount on vehicle insurance for three years.

Other events in February include Grandparents and Me for preschoolers on Saturday, Feb. 8, All Day Quilting on Saturday, Feb. 22 as well as a Babies class. School Readiness parents will again meet on Thursday, Feb. 27 for information on the award system used in the school building. Those interested in knitting or crocheting are invited to come on Friday afternoons at 3:30 p.m.

The Community Education office is located in Room 109 of the Sleepy Eye High School. School day hours are generally 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Since staff is part-time, they may not always be in the building. You can call and leave a message on voice mail, 507-794-7873, and we will get back to you with more information. Another option is to e-mail staff with questions and to sign-up.
