Sylvia Steffl, age 77, of Sleepy Eye, died on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Sylvia Steffl, age 77, of Sleepy Eye, died on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Visitation will be on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. and will continue on Saturday from 7:30 until 9:30 a.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 10 a.m. The clergy will be Fr. Mark Steffl. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, in Sleepy Eye. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. On line condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
Sylvia C. Steffl was born on March 23, 1936 in Taunton, the daughter of Mathias and Mabel (Revier) Marso. She attend District 19 Country School and then St. Mary's Catholic School in Sleepy Eye where graduated with the class of 1954. After graduation she completed LPN training at St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. She worked at Sleepy Eye Hospital until her marriage to John L. Steffl on February 10, 1962. The couple raise four boys on a farm north of Sleepy Eye. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, MCCL, Christian Mothers and CCW. She enjoyed cooking, doing volunteer child care for others and cared for the sick and housebound in the community. In later years she enjoyed watching her four grandchildren grow.
Sylvia is survived by her four sons, Michael Steffl of Sleepy Eye, Stephen Steffl of Roseville, Daniel (Lisa) Steffl of Sleepy Eye, and Paul Steffl of Sleepy Eye; four grandchildren Katie, Sarah, Andrew and Grace Steffl; brother Gilbert (Marge) Marso; sisters, Ruth (Jerome) Steffl, Barbara Marso, and Veronica (Duke) Schroeder.
She is proceed in death by her husband, John "Jack" Steffl; her parents Mathias and Mabel (Revier) Marso; and niece Kathy Ann Schroeder.
