  • Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL) will hold the 40th Annual MCCL March for Life in the Capitol Rotunda on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The event has been moved indoors due to severe weather conditions.

The purpose of the MCCL March for Life is to commemorate the 56 million unborn babies’ lives lost to abortion and to call for legislation to protect all innocent human life, including pregnant women and their unborn children. MCCL will announce its 2014 legislative agenda at the event; press kits will be available.

Congressman John Kline and state lawmakers are expected to participate in the brief MCCL program that begins at 12:30 p.m. in the Rotunda.

Jan. 22 marks the date of the U.S. Supreme Court decisions, Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, which legalized abortion on demand throughout all nine months of pregnancy. Minnesota has lost more than 588,000 lives to abortion since these 1973 court decisions, according to the Minnesota Department of Health. The MCCL March for Life is the largest annual event held at the Capitol, regularly attracting thousands of people.
