Both the seventh grade and eighth grade girls basketball teams at Sleepy Eye Public won their respective games against Buffalo Lake Hector on Dec. 17.
For the seventh graders, Madison Krueger, Mariah Miller, and Rebeca Alvarez each had six points to lead the team to a 24-4 win over the Mustangs.
“The Indians did a nice job with spacing out the court on offense and did a great job on defense,” Sleepy Eye Coach Karlie Kohlmeier said. “They rebounded well and that made a huge difference to the game.”
Meanwhile, the eighth graders had a successful game of their own. The Indians won 36-9 over BLH. Hanna Himmelman had a game-high 16 points with Jenna Osmonson behind her at 14.
“The Indians played good defense,” Kohlmeier said. “They were able to control the speed of the game that led them to have many steals and score off of them. The team should be proud of the way they played.”
