  • Minnesota farmer Alan Holm has been elected to a three-year term on the board of CHS Inc., the nation’s leading producer-owned cooperative and a global energy, grains and foods company.

“A strong cooperative system is one of the most valuable partners a farmer can have,” Holm said. “CHS and our local cooperatives contribute a great deal to helping producers and their communities.”

Holm, 53, brings to the CHS Board nearly two decades experience in cooperative and agricultural leadership. He has served 19 years on the board of what is now River Region Co-op, Sleepy Eye, the past eight as chairman. In addition, he has served as chairman of the Southern Minnesota Co-op Directors’ Association and secretary of the Minnesota State Co-op Directors’ Association. Holm also served two years on the CHS Resolutions Committee, including one as chairman. He has also served in leadership capacities with the Brown County Farm Service Agency county committee, Ag Star Financial Services Advisory Board and Renville Co-op Transport.

“Giving back to the community through service on local boards and committees has enriched my professional and personal lives,” he said. “I look forward to contributing to a strong future for CHS on behalf of its farmer-owners.”

Holm said he looks forward to helping CHS to continue to grow as a leader in agricultural products across the U.S. and globally through the agricultural inputs it supplies and the grains, oilseeds and value-added products it markets.

He holds an associate’s degree in machine tool technology from Mankato Technical College and has participated in numerous cooperative and agriculture educational programs. He has been active as a coach and leader in area youth baseball and softball programs.
