A series of quilting classes have already been set for the new year and it will be a great time to check out the year-end sales if you are in need of fabric to do a project. Patterns and yardages for beginning projects are available in this office. Or if you have a project already started, please join the group to complete it. The first session will be on Saturday, Jan. 25 starting at 8 a.m. Participants come for all or part of the day and accomplish a great deal.
The knitting group will resume on Friday, Jan. 10, 3:30-5 p.m. All skill levels are invited to bring a project they are working on or if just beginning, call for a supply list.

The winter issue of the ECFE newsletter will be mailed after the holidays. It will also be published on the school website. If you are new to the community and have a preschooler, let us know your address so you can receive the information. Call this office to be added to the census.
The first activity in the new year will be an “I Love to Read Night” on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 6-7:30 p.m. in the ECFE room. Children can come in their pajamas for this special time and lots of activities will emphasize many of the favorite books of preschoolers.

The GFW Community Education program has invited area residents to join them in a trip to Fiddler on the Roof at the Chanhassen on Wednesday, Feb. 5 for noon lunch and a matinee performance. Reports from those who were able to go on the trip offered by New Ulm Community Education in November were very good. Please call for more details if this is something you would be interested in doing. Registration is needed by Jan. 13.

The Community Education office is located in Room 109 of the Sleepy Eye High School. School day hours are generally 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Since staff is part-time, they may not always be in the building. You can call and leave a message on voice mail, 507-794-7873, and we will get back to you with more information. Another option is to e-mail staff with questions and to sign-up. Addresses are on the school website.
