The GFW Community Education program has invited area residents to join them on a trip to “Fiddler on the Roof” at the Chanhassen on Wednesday, Feb. 5 for noon lunch and a matinee performance. Reports from those who were able to go on the trip offered by New Ulm Community Education in November were very good. Please call for more details if this is something you would be interested in doing. Registration is needed by Jan. 13.

Community residents stop by each week to sign up for walking the hallways of the school during this recent cold spell. Walking is available after 3:30 p.m. on school days with the building open until 6 p.m. or later on nights where there are activities. If you are an early riser, 7-7:30 a.m. is also available. Just let this office know you want to participate in this activity and pick up a walking badge unless you have one from prior years that can be used.
With an early out and a late start, preschools already have some classes to make up. The policy states that if we have a late start, we do not have preschool the entire day. The reason for that is to keep the classes on target with the curriculum, as well as a transportation issue. If we dismiss early, of course, the morning class would have been held, but the afternoon class will need to be made up most likely at the end of the year.

Community Education gift certificates make excellent choices for the person who likes to go places or do things. Any amount can be designed and they can be picked up in this office.

The Community Education office is located in Room 109 of the Sleepy Eye High School. School day hours are generally 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Since staff is part-time, they may not always be in the building. You can call and leave a message on voice mail, 507-794-7873, and we will get back to you with more information. Another option is to e-mail staff with questions and to sign-up. Addresses are on the school website.
