Louise and Walter Menzel began collecting figurines for their Christmas Village in 1937. Many of the pieces are from the U.S. and others were purchased on the Menzel’s trips to Germany and Switzerland. The Menzel’s would invite neighborhood children to their house during the Christmas Season to view the beautiful, detailed scenes. When the task of putting up the village each Christmas became too much for Louise, she donated the village to the BCHS Museum. Since 1983 many families have made it a Christmas tradition to visit the museum and view the village.

The BCHS Museum is located at 2 North Broadway. For more information please call the museum 507-233-2616.
