The Lions Club Students of the Month are Miranda McMullen and Alexa Weiss.
Miranda: At Sleepy Eye Public Miranda is involved in the sports of volleyball, hockey and track. She is also involved in FFA where she serves as the chapter president and student advisory and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Alexa: At St. Mary’s High School Alexa is involved in the sports of cheerleading, volleyball and hockey. Outside of sports she is a student council member, a part of Teen Court, in the high school choir and participates in the school musical.
Alexa: In the community Alexa participates in the Schola Cantora and Teen Liturgy choirs and is an altar server in her church. She is currently employed at the Sleepy Eye Aquatic Center and SouthPoint Federal Credit Union.
Miranda: In her church Miranda is a Bible school teacher and participates in the youth group. She has volunteered her time at the humane society, Kidz Against Hunger, Adopt-a-senior and Weedeliver. She is currently employed at Hardee’s.
Miranda: Her personal strengths include leadership skills, goal setting and working hard.
“My personal values will help me succeed in life because I know that things don’t come easy,” Miranda said. “I believe that if you want a good future for yourself you have to work for it.”
Alexa: She feels that her greatest personal strength is her extreme determination.
“I give my full effort to complete tasks to the best of my ability,” Alexa said. “I am determined to succeed in all that I set my mind to.”
Alexa: The person that Alexa feels has the greatest influence in her life is her grandma Marge.
“My grandma has formed me into the compassionate young woman that I am, always willing to listen or give a comforting hug,” Alexa said. “I hope that when I’m her age I can be even half of the marvelous role model that she is.”
Miranda: The greatest influence in Miranda’s life has been her mother, Pam.
“She is supportive in everything I do and is always there for me,” Miranda said.
Miranda: After high school Miranda plans on attending a four year college to study pharmacy.
Alexa: Following graduation Alexa plans to study dentistry or biochemistry and attending a four-year college.
