St. Mary'School hosted the "War of the Currents" on Tuesday, Oct. 16. presented by staff from the Bakken Museum of Minneapolis.
Students in kindergarten through eighth grade at Sleepy Eye Public and St. Mary's learned about electrical generation, transmission and conservation through the story of Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison and their historic debate over alternating current versus direct current.
The show tells the story of these scientists using demonstrations, experiments and games and also addresses the basics of electricity and the broader fields of science and engineering.
The highly interactive program allowed students to participate from their seats and some were able to volunteer to help on stage.
The assembly was provided at no cost to the schools by Brown County REA's wholesale power supplier, Great River Energy.
