  • Members of the Shiyane Circuit, a part of the Southeastern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Southern Africa, were in Sleepy Eye this past week.

This was made possible by the Watonwan River Conference (WRC) Partners Committee who wanted to give the people of WRC the opportunity the meet friends from the other side of the ocean.

Trinity Lutheran Church has been in partnership with the Southwest Minnesota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America who partners with the Shiyane Circuit.
The partnership allows people both from South Africa and America a chance to participate in worship, share conversation, exchange information about important agricultural projects and share stories of faith and the love for Jesus Christ.

While Trinity has been involved with the partnership for the past eight years, various people have come to Minnesota and South Africa.

Most recently Trinity Lutheran Church had the privilege of hosting five South Africans from the Companion Circuit, specifically to visit the WR Conference.
Princess Tyler is the chairperson of the Shiyane Partnership Committee. She is active in many levels of church leadership.

Simson Tyler is Princess’ husband, a taxi driver and farmer. He is the behind-the-scenes person who keeps things moving well.
