  • About 100 participants took part in the Kickin’ It for Kids 5K run and walk on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Allison Park, sponsored by SouthPoint Federal Credit Union.

The race began at 6:30 p.m., where runners, walkers and families traveled around the Sleepy Eye Lake. Event coordinator Angie Pidde was happy with the result of the event. “We couldn’t be more pleased with our third annual 5k,” Pidde said. “We had excellent support and participation from the community. We are glad we could hold an event that promotes activities for families and supports Gillette’s Children Hospital.”

Troy Stressman of Comfrey finished first place for the men in a time of 18:18. Second place for the men went to Duane Oftedahl of New Ulm with a time of 18:25.
