  • Local resident celebrates 100th birthday

  • Esther Patterson, a resident at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 29 with family and friends.

  • Esther Patterson, a resident at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 29 with family and friends.
     
    Esther has one living son and daughter-in-law, Larry and JoAnn (Tomaschko) Patterson of Burnsville; two living sisters, Melda Ohland of Gibbon and Leona Lehman of Fairmont; and one living brother, William Brei, Jr. of New Ulm. There are also five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
     
    Esther’s mother, Minnie Brei of New Ulm, also lived to be 100.
     
    Esther was a longtime resident of New Ulm and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
     
    Esther and her husband, Louis (Pat) Patterson, moved to New Ulm in 1936. Pat was self-employed in the radio and TV repair business for many years. Until recently, Esther lived in the Ridgeway assisted living facility in New Ulm. She moved to Divine Providence in July of this year.
