  • The Sleepy Eye girls cross country team took third place at the Redwood Falls meet on Sept. 26.

It was a warm day for the runners at the Redwood Golf Course, but that didn’t stop eighth grader Brianna Polesky from earning a medal for her fourth place finish in the 4K. Polesky took fourth out of 38 runners with a time of 16:52. The girls team took third place out of five teams. Freshmen Mary Joyce and Cassidy Hacker also led the girls team after their 10th and 11th place finishes, respectfully.

Junior Stephen Joyce took 11th place in the 5K to lead the boys team to a fifth place finish overall.

“This was our third race in six days, so we were running on some tired legs,” Coach Scott DeMaris said. “We now have one meet per week for the rest of the year.”
