Early Childhood Screening Oct. 10

This is a busy week for Sleepy Eye students as both schools have homecoming with all of the activities planned for the week, as well as a football game on Friday night.

Fall is in the air some days and then again it may be summer that we feel. As the days get shorter, there is more time to do things indoors. The knitting classes will begin again on Friday, Oct. 4, 3:30-5 p.m. in Room 109. Days chosen for this fall are Oct. 4, 11 and 25, as well as Nov. 1. So bring your projects, questions and unfinished items to work on. If you would like to start knitting, just bring a set of number 8 needles as we have yarn and patterns.

The next All Day Quilting class will be on Saturday, Oct. 12 beginning at 8 a.m. It is also the Day of Caring for our community. A team is being formed and there are usually a few projects to do in Sleepy Eye. The more people involved, the quicker the projects get done. Call if you are interested in helping give back to the community.

Sign-up is needed by Sept. 30 for our outing on Wednesday, Oct. 30 to “Fiddler on the Roof” at the Chanhassen. Some of the songs included are “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” and “Sunrise, Sunset.” It is the main stage production and includes a noon luncheon.

A second trip has been scheduled for the Church Basement Ladies at the Plymouth Playhouse. It will be on Friday, Nov. 8 and is entitled “The Last (Potluck) Supper.” This is the fifth musical in the series. The bus would depart at 8:45 a.m. and return by 5:30 p.m. A stop is made at Ridgedale for noon lunch on your own.

The Community Education office is located in Room 109 of the Sleepy Eye High School. School day hours are generally 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Since staff is part-time, they may not always be in the building. You can call and leave a message on voice mail, 507-794-7873, and we will get back to you with more information. Another option is to e-mail staff with questions and to sign-up. Addresses are on the school website.
