  • The third grade from Sleepy Eye Public School took a walking tour of Sleepy Eye on Friday, Sept. 20. One of their stops was at the Sleepy Eye City Council Chambers to learn about local government from Mayor Jim Broich.

  • The third grade from Sleepy Eye Public School took a walking tour of Sleepy Eye on Friday, Sept. 20. One of their stops was at the Sleepy Eye City Council Chambers to learn about local government from Mayor Jim Broich.
     
    Students had a chance to sit in councilors’ chairs as they listened to the Mayor talk about the functions and processes of city government.
     
    City Manager Mark Kober talked to the third grade about his job duties and what he likes about his job.
     
    After Mark spoke, the class heard from historian Judy Beech about the history of Sleepy Eye and then walked over to the Chief Sleepy Eye Monument by the Depot Museum.
