  • Welcome to the beginning of another school year! I am sure many teachers around the country have spoken those words in the past couple of weeks. Greeting each other in such a positive way at the beginning of the year reflects and sets a good tone for you and your children for the upcoming school year. We should be happy for a new year to begin! I greet you as the new principal at St. John’s Lutheran School here in Sleepy Eye. My name is Dan Rick. I am teaching grades 5-8 and I am also the athletic director and athletics coach of the school.

Our school theme for this year is “Strength, Song, Salvation.” These words echo exactly what each of the students should be doing each day. This theme summarizes the gifts the Lord gives us; it also expresses our dependence on Him; it also indicates ways in which we can serve Him. In so doing, we also bring glory to our Father in Heaven.
