  • Young runners finish well at cross country meet

  • The Sleepy Eye cross country team traveled to Tracy Golf Course on Sept. 5 where the girls team took seventh place out of 13 teams and the boys took 12th place out of 15 teams.

  • The Sleepy Eye cross country team traveled to Tracy Golf Course on Sept. 5 where the girls team took seventh place out of 13 teams and the boys took 12th place out of 15 teams.
     
    Eighth grader Brianna Polesky was once again the No. 1 runner for the girls team, after she ran the 2.5 mile course with a time of 18:29 and a 32nd place finish out of 98 runners. Another young athlete, freshman Cassidy Hacker, was Sleepy Eye’s second place finisher on the girls side with a time of 18:52 and took 39th place overall. It was her first ever cross country race. Senior Emily Schumacher was two seconds behind Hacker, which finished her at 40th.
     
    Junior Stephen Joyce led the boys side, after he finished the 5K run in 19:54. He took 28th place out of 106 runners. Meanwhile, sophomore Ben Jakobitz was four seconds back and finished at 31st.
