A former radio talk show host was sentenced Monday, Sept. 9, on a felony charge of electronic solicitation of a child in Brown County District Court.
A judge sentenced Jon R. Jahnke to 45 days in jail and a $1,500 fine. In exchange for the guilty plea, two of the three charges against him were dropped.
Jahnke was placed on three years supervised probation, monitored by the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Field Services. Successful probation completion results in a dismissal. Conditions include participation in a sex offender treatment program, individual counseling and no contact with females under the age of 18, unless a family member.
Jahnke will begin his staggered sentence on Sept. 20 serving three blocks of 15 days each.
According to the criminal complaint filed on Dec. 5, 2012, Special Agent Vern Vandeberg of the Wisconsin Department of Justice–Division of Criminal Investigation, was working undercover as a 15-year-old female on a Minnesota Yahoo online chat room when he received an instant message from a screen name that was later identified as belonging to Jahnke.
The documents state that during the online conversation, Jahnke discussed explicit sexual acts with the undercover agent who Jahnke believed to be a 15-year-old female.
