ECFE classes scheduled

The fall listing of Community Education events was included in the Aug. 26 edition of the Brown County Reminder. It has brief descriptions of many activities happening through December. A more detailed listing can be found on the school website. In addition, an ECFE newsletter is in the process of being published and sent to all families on the census list of our district. If you have a preschooler and are new to the school district or have changed addresses, please inform this office so you will receive a copy. It will also be on the school website when finished.

The first activity will be the School Readiness open house on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 6-7:30 p.m., in Room 320 of the Sleepy Eye Elementary School. Children and their parents will be meeting the new School Readiness teacher – Torry Berg. Torry has been working in our community for the past 16 years as a Head Start home visitor and teacher, so is acquainted with many people in Sleepy Eye, as well as being a graduate of Sleepy Eye High School.

Open house is a time to become familiar with the classroom and experience some of the activities that happen during classes. Parents will also be asked to return necessary paperwork for the child to participate. Classes will begin Sept. 9. There is space available for this early learning opportunity.

A week later an open house will be held for Discovery Time which is the three year old preschool. It will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 6-7:30 p.m. in Room 320 as well. These classes are currently filled. Cheyenne Lax will be teaching the Discovery Time classes which begin on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Parents participate in ECFE classes as well, which start on Tuesday, Sept. 17 for this age group.

ECFE classes planned so far are:
