Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 1 to 7 p.m., the American Red Cross will host a blood drive at the Eagles Orchid Inn, 500 Burnside St. SE in Sleepy Eye.
All eligible donors are encouraged to make a blood donation appointment by calling Jane Fischer at 507-794-7625.
Thousands of blood donations are needed every day to treat trauma victims, organ transplant recipients, cancer patients, premature babies and many more. But, it can take up to three days for donated blood to be tested, processed and made available for patients.
September is National Preparedness Month, and the mission of the American Red Cross is to help the public prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. One way Americans can support this mission is to become a regular blood donor.
Currently, eligible donors of all blood types, especially O negative, A negative and B negative, are needed for the Red Cross to readily meet patient needs. Donors who gave blood at the start of summer may now be eligible to donate again.
