  • Leoris M. Jacobsen, age 89, of Sleepy Eye, died on August 5, 2013, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel and will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Evan. Service will be held at the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Evan, on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. The clergy will be Pastor Keith Ainsley. Interment will be at the Prairieville Cemetery in Evan. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. On line condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
    Leoris M. Jacobsen was born on March 30, 1924, in New Ulm, the daughter of Valentine and Anna (Rolloff) Knees. She graduated from New Ulm Public School in 1942. She lived and worked in California and Colorado before returning to New Ulm in the late 1940's. She was united in marriage to Roy Jacobsen on October 10, 1951 in New Ulm. She was employed at A.J. Pietrus in Sleepy Eye and worked 18 years at Kraft before retirement. Leoris was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She loved to follow politics and keep current with the news
    She is survived by her husband,Roy of Sleepy Eye; children, Thomas Jacobsen of Evan and Neal (Audrey) Jacobsen of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Jennifer Pidde, Jon Jacobsen, Erin Zemple, Derrick Jacobsen and KaCee Zeimer; half brother, Roger Kleinschmidt of Fla.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Edward Kleinschmidt; and sister, Ione DeWanz.
