  • Three students awarded medical scholarships

  • The Sleepy Eye Healthcare Foundation presented three medical school scholarships recently. The scholarship is presented to high school seniors interested in pursuing a degree in a medical-related field. The scholarships are available to high school seniors who are residents of Sleepy Eye and/or attend high school in Sleepy Eye and will be entering college or technical school in a health–related field of study.

  • Elise Helget of St. James, a recent graduate of Sleepy Eye St. Mary's High School, was awarded the Hansen Family Scholarship for 2013. The Hansen Family Scholarship, awarded through the Sleepy Eye Healthcare Foundation, is presented to high school seniors interested in pursuing a degree in a medical-related field.
    Elise will attend Lake Area Technical Institute in the Physical Therapist Assistant program. Elise's parents and Rick and Becky Helget.
    Katie Sellner, a recent graduate of Sleepy Eye St. Mary's High School, was awarded the 2013 Murthy Medical Scholarship from Dr. K.V.K. and Kamakshi Murthy. Katie will attend South Dakota State University in the dietetics program.
    Emily Curtis, a recent graduate of Sleepy Eye High School, was awarded the 2013 Murthy Medical Scholarship from Dr. K.V.K. and Kamakshi Murthy. The Murthy Medical Scholarship is presented to high school seniors interested in pursuing a degree in a medical-related field.
    Emily will attend the University of St. Thomas in the pre-medicine program. Emily's parents are Chris and Greg Curtis of Sleepy Eye.
