  • Last week with the July 4th holiday, there was a lot going on locally. I mentioned a few of the events in my column last week and wanted to give credit to the organizations that keep those events going year after year.

I said that in Allison Park on the fourth the hamburger stand was thanks to the Sportsman’s Club. That is not the correct organization. The Eagles Club is the group that is responsible for the events that take place in Allison Park during the July 4th holiday.

Each year they request support from the City and businesses to help fund the fireworks that take place after dark that day. And, it is the Eagles Club that is the sponsoring organization of the hamburger stand and invite bands or groups to bring music to the park as well.

So the next time you are out to the Eagles Orchid Inn, tell someone there to thank the Eagles for bringing the events to the park on July 4th.

Also, thank the firemen who went to the training to acquire the proper licensing to make it happen as well!
