There certainly are some amazing sights of nature throughout our world. We recently had the good fortune to road trip to and from a new terrain, where mountains hovered overhead with such enormity and beauty that after a deep relieving breath, I was reminded how big and miraculous the world really is and felt as if the mountains were saying “No worries, we got your back.”
They were huge, powerful and protective-like. The air was filled with fresh smells and the Canadian pines never seemed to end. The varied scenery along the entire trip was stunning and peaceful.
Nature seemed to offer just what we needed, which really began to set in after driving so close to those massive mountains. The landscape surrounding us became even more important and interesting, and I paid closer attention to it all. I’d highly encourage anyone to take the opportunity to visit Canada, Washington or any other Rocky Mountain area, but, I also realize that the environment we have surrounding us, right where we are, can be just as enriching, when we have respect and appreciation for it.
Along our drive, we traveled through many reservations and gave great thought to the Native Americans. During the 19th Century, when tribes planted crops, they planted in land to which they asked permission to farm, offered prayers and performed rituals of thanks. Their tuning in and respect for the earth are excellent examples to follow.
Children seem to naturally appreciate. They are so wise. Big mountains are truly powerful, but even small rocks that children love to notice, pick up or collect from streets, parks or lakes, are said to be empowering. Just holding them offers a sense of peace and grounding. At our essence we are ancient creatures who came from thousands of generations of ancestors who lived in the natural world. Surrounding ourselves with objects and art depicting those origins are essential to mental and emotional well being, reminding us who we truly are. (www.care2.com) Feng Shui encourages the use of river rocks in home décor. The grounded energy provided by these smooth stones helps to bring peace, prosperity and abundance into an area. Their close connection to water, which is associated with wealth, can bring about many positive changes when applied correctly.
Semi-precious stones are said to carry individual meanings and energies as well. For thousands of years leaders in religion and government have written about gemstones as healing agents. The rocks and minerals that make up natural semi-precious gemstones all originated in the earth; they carry within their structure the history of the powerful forces that have shaped Earth’s evolution. What a blessing to hold something with such obvious power, wouldn’t you say?
Whether rocks, water or any other piece of nature, pay attention, notice intentionally and appreciate the nature that surrounds you!
