  • Esther Henle, 95, of New Ulm died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 – 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The Christian Mother's Society will pray the rosary at 4 PM Wednesday at the Cathedral. To leave an online condolence for her family or to sign the guest book go to www.mvfh.org.
    Esther Irene Lammers was born November 28, 1917 in St. Killian to Herman and Gertrude (Joanning) Lammers. They lived in St. Killian, Lismore and then Orient and Flandreau, S.D. Esther moved to Sleepy Eye where she was employed by Bob Hansen at the Family Café in Sleepy Eye. She was united in marriage to Melvin F. Henle on October 20, 1941 at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Flandreau, S.D. After marriage they lived in Essig until moving to New Ulm in 1952 where she was a homemaker and raised their family. Esther enjoyed bingo, playing cards, dancing, gardening and cooking. She loved spending time with her family. Esther volunteered countless hours at Oak Hills Living Center before becoming a resident in 2010. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the Christian Mother's Society.
    Esther is survived by her daughters, Alyce (John) Konz of New Ulm, Ruth (Ronald) Kent of Asheville, N.C.; sons, Jim (Mary) Henle, Paul (Pat) Henle all of New Ulm; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sisters, Irene Schulz of New Ulm, Colette Powers of Montevideo; and by many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; grandson, Brent Henle; great-grandson, Robin Pedersen; sisters, Verna (Madory) Bruckbauer, Elinor Moon, Marion Selvog, Colleen Fleck, Lorraine "Pinky" Lammers; and by her brothers, Clarence Lammers, Raymond J. Lammers and Herman Lammers Jr. in infancy.
