  • One of the popular summer activities for our youngest members of the community is the Book Wagon that visits two of our city parks during the month of June. The first stop will be at South Park 9:30-10:15 and then to Keifer Park 10:30-11:15. This year, each family will be receiving a book to take home due to a R.E.A.D. (Reading Encourages Academic Development) Grant that was received from the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation. Families with preschoolers and day care providers are invited to join ECFE on Thursday beginning June 6 for this special event.
Another highlight for children in our School Readiness program is their graduation scheduled for Tuesday, May 7 during their class time. It is not the end of their year, but many families have arranged to take time off from work or invited grandparents to come, so we are keeping graduation day as scheduled. The children will continue with classes until May 16 in order to make up all the days they missed during the year.

The Community Education office is located in room 109 of the Sleepy Eye High School. School day office hours are generally 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Since staff is part-time, they may not always be in the building. You can call and leave a message on voicemail, 507-794-7873, and we will get back to you with more information. Another option is to e-mail staff with questions and to sign-up. Addresses are on the school website.
