AgStar team members and the AgStar Fund for Rural America teamed up during March for the Minnesota Food Share Campaign to raise money for the food shelves throughout AgStar’s service area in Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. All cash donations made by team members were matched dollar-for-dollar by the AgStar Fund for Rural America, resulting in a total of $17,972 donated to 70 food shelves throughout AgStar’s local service areas, on top of the 103 pounds of food collected.
The March Campaign, the largest food drive in the state of Minnesota, is a program that brings awareness about hunger and aims to restock food shelves at a time when food shelves are lacking in donations. The donations of food and cash are well-received at each food shelf.
“Giving back to the community is an integral part of AgStar’s mission of ‘Enhancing life in agriculture and rural America’,” said Melanie Olson, fund specialist for AgStar’s Fund for Rural America. “We are proud of our team members for their contributions this year that help the communities we live and work in. These donations show AgStar’s dedication to our clients who help feed America every day.”
Since 2010, AgStar and team members have contributed over $66,000 and 2,299 pounds of food to help fight hunger in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
