Eleonora “Nora” Haber, 100, of Sleepy Eye died Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Eleonora “Nora” Haber, 100, of Sleepy Eye died Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 16, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Donald Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be 4 – 8 p.m. Monday and 7:30 – 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm and will continue for one half hour prior to the time of service at church on Tuesday. Nora was born July 12, 1912 at home in Home Township to Fred and Bertha (Vogel) Radloff where she lived her entire life attending District #21 School and later working for neighboring families doing housework. She was united in marriage to Earl Haber on September 27, 1934 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Parsonage in New Ulm after which they farmed together on the family farm near Essig for over 50 years. They moved to Sleepy Eye in 1986. Earl died in 1987 and in 2009 she moved to Countryside Apartments and then to Divine Providence Community Home in 2011. Nora loved her family and friends, helping people, crafting, an avid garage saler selling her jelly and pickles. Her dill pickles went all the way to the state capital with Representative Dennis Frederickson. She was the “Pickle Lady” in the area. Nora was a charter member of the Milford 4-H Club.
Nora is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Roger) Marti of Sleepy Eye; son, Wayne (Myra) Haber of Lake Lillian; grandchildren, Vaughn Haber and his friend Wendy Martens of Palm Coast, Fla., Jan (Cheryl) Haber of Eagan, Cheryl Marti of Green Bay, Wisc., Loren (Cammie) Marti of Springdale, Ark., Jill (Brian) Nelson of Sleepy Eye, Nathan (Jessica) Marti of Courtland; and by six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Haber; brother, Herman Radloff; sisters, Alice (Herbert) Fick, Hilda (Paul) Fritsche, Edna (Elmer) Sear; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bertha and Herbert Dehn, Violet and Ernest Sauer, Laura and Ralph Rosenau Sr., Helen and Emil Guth, Verna and Fred Rolloff, George Haber, Ernest and Lillian Haber, Edward and Elsie Haber.
