  • Sleepy Eye United girls place first in track meet

  • The Sleepy Eye United girls track and field team showed a great start to the season on March 27 when they finished first with 119 points.

  • Girls team scores: SEU 119, MLA 117, MVL/NUC 80.5, Loy/Cle 70, STC 55.5, JWP 30.5, BP 10.
     
    Boys team scores: MVL/NUC 146, Loy/Cle 111, STC 81, MLA 73, BP 35, SEU 30, BP 16.
     
    The Sleepy Eye United girls track and field team showed a great start to the season on March 27 when they finished first with 119 points. The boys team finished with 30 points and took sixth.
     
    The indoor track meet at MSU brought in seven teams around the area to compete. Mountain Lake Area took a close second place with just two points behind the Sleepy Eye girls.
     
    For the boys, Minnesota Valley Lutheran/New Ulm Cathedral took first with 146 points while Mankato-Loyola/Cleveland was behind them with 111 points.

    Mariah Salfer – high hurdles 9.7; low hurdles 9.9. Kennedy Pelzel – 1600 6:04. Jessica Schmitz – triple jump 32’ 10.25”.
    Second Place Finishers
    Tori Anderson – triple jump 30’ 2.5”. Becca Schmitz – high jump 4’8”. Courtney Schmitt – 200 30.0. Samantha Walter – 55 7.8. 4x800 relay – (Kari Schumacher, Pelzel, Brianna Polesky, Hayley Neid) 10:53.
    Third Place Finishers
    Hannah Marti – high hurdles 10.6. 4x200 relay – (Courtney Schmitt, Jessica Schmitz, Tori Anderson, Becca Schmitz) 1:59.2.
     
    Boys
    Second Place Finishers
    4x400 relay – (Mario Gomez, Ruben Astorga, Alexis Flores, Brandon Roiger) 4:00.
    Third Place Finishers
    Tucker Schuster – shot put 40’2.5”. Gomez – 1600 5:06.
