Mary Anne Tauer, age 79, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Sleepy Eye, died on March 28, 2013, at the Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Memorial Service will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call on the family on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. The clergy will be Fr. Mark Steffl. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Sleepy Eye, at a later date. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Mary Anne was born on June 9, 1933, in Home Township, Brown County, the daughter of Raymond and Mathilda (Domeier) Tauer. She attended St. Mary's Elementary School and graduated from St. Mary's High School. in 1951. She worked as a Medical Technician at Fort Dodge, Iowa, Detroit, Mich., and Chicago, Ill. Mary Anne volunteered at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago and was a member of the DePaul Chorus.
She is survived by her brothers, Elroy (Pat) Tauer of St. Peters, Mo. and Bennett Tauer of Sleepy Eye; a sister-in-law, Peggy Tauer of Sleepy Eye; nieces and nephews, Mary (Robert) Mackenzie, Mark Tauer, Paul (Mary Beth Wallace) Tauer, Betsy Tauer, Janet Tauer, James (Denise) Tauer, Joel (Mary) Tauer, Andrea (Dan Baumann) Tauer, Carole (Wil Bowser) Tauer, William (Brenda) Tauer, Valerie (John) Kranz, and Leah (Tony) Vee; great nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Ray and Leander Tauer.
