The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites the public to review and comment on a proposal to add 9.6 miles of new bicycle trail to the existing 6.5 mile Plowline Trail system in southeastern Minnesota’s Winona County at an open house. The meeting is Thursday, May 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Stockton Community Center on North D Street.
The proposed bicycle-use-only trail would be built on state-owned land in the Bronk Management Unit of the Richard J. Dorer Memorial Hardwood State Forest. The Winona Area Mountain Bike Club would build and maintain the new single-track trail with DNR supervision.
Members of the public are invited to stop by at any time during the open house to review maps of existing and proposed trails, discuss the new trail proposal, submit comments and recommend changes. Comments will be used to develop a final trail designation proposal. If approved, the DNR will designate the trail by written order as required by Minnesota Statutes, section 89.19.
