Bernard C. Pelzel, age 97 of Furlong Pa. died Saturday, March 23, 2013. Relatives and friends are invited to Bernard’s Life Celebration Wednesday, April 3 at10 a.m. at the Doylestown United Methodist Church, 320 E Swamp Road, Doylestown Pa. Bernard was born the son of Clement and Augusta (Engel) Pelzel in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. He served as a medic and ambulance driver in the 306th Bombardment Group of the Army Air Corp while stationed in England during World War II.Once back in the States, Bernard drove a truck cross-country, worked in an airplane propeller factory and obtained his pilot’s license.He then became the property manager for the Estate of the late Arnold Bernhard in Westport, Conn., a position he held for the next 33 years.Ben and his wife, Marjo, retired to Vermont, Ma. and then to Furlong, Pa.Ben loved to tinker in his garage and was able to fix anything.His favorite activity was driving his motor home on various trips across the country.Ben enjoyed riding his motorcycles, gardening, as well as spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marjo (nee Groot).Devoted father of Audrey, Kenneth, Ronald (Liz), Richard (the late Samara) Pelzel, and Wendela (Dr. Mark) Lund.Loving Opa of Eleanor and Ryan, Quintin and Carter, Harrison and Spencer.Brother of Melvin Pelzel, Lorraine Tauer, and brother–in-law of Frank Muller. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents; nine siblings, Roman, Edward, Arthur, Erwin, Leo, Leona, Irene, Lucille and Marion.
