Katherine M. Hansen, age 84, of Sleepy Eye, died on Thurs., March 21, 2013, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Service will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Mon., March 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. The clergy will be Msgr. Eugene Lozinski. Interment will be at the Home Cemetery, in Sleepy Eye later this spring. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Katherine Mary Fischer was born on May 11, 1928 in Sleepy Eye, to Joseph and Hannah (Raverty) Fischer. She graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School in 1946. Katherine married Richard "Dick" Hansen on May 29, 1948 at St. Mary's Rectory. She retired from the University of Minnesota/Brown County Extension Service on September 1, 1989 after 30 years of service. Katherine was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, CCW, Christian Mothers, Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and Divine Providence Auxiliary. She enjoyed and loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, reading, watching the Minnesota Twins, playing cards and traveling to many U.S. States, Hawaii and Europe.
She is survived by three daughters; Mary Jeanne (Greg) Bloodgood of Mankato, Patti (Dean) Anderson of New Ulm, Kathy Jo (Robert) Marti of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Sarah (Russ) Schabert, Alex (Heather) Saffert, Chandra (Kiran) Kavati, Katherine Bloodgood, Andy Marti, Ben Marti; great grandchildren, Morgan, Will and Elliot Schabert, Nolin, Nathan and Isaac Saffert, Amelia Katherine Marti, Kingston Kavati; step grandchildren, Shannon (Michele) Anderson, Matthew (Jessica) Anderson; step great grandchildren, Alyvia and Amelia Anderson, Kristin, Emily and Chloe Anderson; sister, Carol Walden of Redwood Falls; brother, Dean (Judy) Fischer of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Marian Fischer of St. Paul, brothers-in-law, Charles "Chisey" (Shirley) Hansen, Harold "Hooch" Hansen, both of Sleepy Eye and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Dick Hansen on January 10, 1992; in-laws, C.C. and Veronica Hansen; great-grandson, Jacob Schabert; sisters, brothers and in-laws, Phyllis Hansen, Virginia "Jeanne" Hansen, George and Lily Fischer, Clarence and Pearl Fischer, Marvin Fischer, Eva Wesner, Hazel and Elroy Krenz, Ione and Harold Mattson and Jim Walden.
