The Chamber Board of Directors announced that they have hired a new Chamber Director.
Trista Barka started her position Monday, March 18.
Trista is originally from Rushford and her husband, Adam, is originally from Litchfield. The couple has lived in Sleepy Eye for several years after Adam was hired at Christensen Farms as an Environmental Resource Manager.
Trista had been working in New Ulm selling insurance until she was hired as the full-time Chamber Director.
She said when the posting was advertised she was interested in this position from previously selling newspaper advertising in Litchfield and interacting with the chamber and businesses in that area. It was an aspect she said she missed. She will spend her first week getting familiar with the events and tasks of her new position.
Her first event as the new Chamber Director will be the Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Eagles Club at Allison Park on March 30 beginning at 1 p.m.
Trista said she is looking forward to being out in the community and visiting with current Chamber members to find out what needs she may be able to fill.
"I look forward to what's coming in the future," Trista said. "I'm always available to hear suggestions and comments that could help the Chamber."
In her spare time Krista enjoys running and plans to run a half-marathon in May. She also enjoys golfing in the summer at the Sleepy Eye Golf Course and at Fort Ridgley.
