  • River Valley Speakers to host public performance Tuesday

  • All speech team members from Springfield and Sleepy Eye will participate in a public performance on Tuesday evening, March 19, immediately following the middle school concert, beginning around 8:30 p.m.

  • All speech team members from Springfield and Sleepy Eye will participate in a public performance on Tuesday evening, March 19, immediately following the middle school concert, beginning around 8:30 p.m.
     
    Each of the team’s speakers in grades 7-12 will present his/her speech in one of several rooms. It is possible to move from room to room between speakers.
     
    Audience members will have an opportunity to enjoy a Grimm’s story retold (Anna Plotz, Molly Dunn, or Hannah Johnson), a duo who shares a humorous scene about dissecting animals in a science lab (Ben Runck and Joe Pieschel), or learn more about the value of beef cattle (Katelyn Hauth).
     
    In addition, a serious look at problems such as avoidable medical errors, the harmful culture in which our young boys are living, and the dangers of bath salts will be topics approached by orators Becky Roiger, Isaac Kirschstein, and Kalina Kastner. Brandon Roiger will share two presentations, one about water purification and the other dealing with slave labor used to make products we enjoy.
     
    There will be poetry and prose and drama about war soldiers in Iraq, 9/11, and the Challenger disaster (Jacob Riederer, Mariah Hoyt, Cody Schwartz, and Kendra Parks) plus more. There is no charge to attend the event.
