We have again invited approximately 60 players from the Tomahawk and Red Rock conferences to participate in the annual Tim Orth Foundation All Jamboree Basketball Game! The All Jamboree teams consist of only senior athletes from the conferences. The basketball games are held in conjunction with the Tim Orth Memorial Foundation's annual event. This year it will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the GFW School in Fairfax. As in the past, there will be two games that night, the first will feature the girls' team and the second will follow with the boys' team. The school doors will open at 5:00pm. The first game will begin at approximately 6:00. Prior to the game, Chris Blake, from Life Touch will be there to take a group picture with all the players, mascots and Orth recipients (5:30). This team photo will be given to each participant at no cost from Life Touch out of New Ulm and yes, there will be concessions served all night for this event, thanks to the workers from GFW and Tomahawk schools. We also want to thank BIC APP-Norwood Publishing, Southpoint Federal Credit Union and Brian and Rhonda Mathiowetz for their monetary donations, KNUJ for their coverage and support, as well as a number of unnamed individuals who have given to this worthy cause.
As always, the profits from this event will be given to individuals with major medical expenses that have been chosen by the Tim Orth Foundation. This year's recipients for the Fairfax event will be Colton Post, son of Matthew and Erin Post from the Edgerton School District. Two year old Colton has Leukemia.
Tyler Helget, son of Bryan and Sherry Helget is our second recipient. Tyler is a 12 year old and battling Type 1 diabetes. They are from the Comfrey area. We hope many will come out and support these two young individuals.
There are a number of special events being planned again this year. We will have a "3 point" shooting contest before the games with a plaque for each of the winners (girls and guys). There will also be a number of professional mascots there, including "Crunch" from the Timberwolves, "Goldie" from the Minnesota Gophers, the "Bear" from the Utah Jazz basketball team who was named the" Mascot of the Year". "Little Bear" will also join us this year as well as the Jazz Stunt Team and Timberwolves Dunk Team. We also have returning, the "Alexander Acers", a young group of ball handlers from the Alexandria area who will be performing basketball skills.
We hope to see many people come out to support this worthy event and enjoy some great entertainment. Cost is $8 for adults, 7$ for senior citizens and $6 for students, all of which goes to support these kids in need!
