  • Over the course of the last three weeks, you have had the opportunity to get a glimpse of seven young ladies all vying for the chance to be the 2013 Miss Sleepy Eye.

Saturday evening beginning at 7 p.m. in the ballroom of the Eagles Orchid Inn, Courtney Schneider, Miss Sleepy Eye 2012, will give up her title to a newly crowned Miss Sleepy Eye and her attendants.

This year vying for the title are: Tia Cselovszki, Emily Curtis, Maddy Helget, Katelyn Johnson, Courtney Schmitt, Jessica Schmitz and Molly Schwartz. These young ladies not only excel in athletics and academics but poise and personality as well.

Courtney will close this chapter of her life story and in July turn the page striving for another crown via the Minneapolis Aquatennial.

Sleepy Eye is so very fortunate to have such a long standing history with the Aquatennial. Saturday will be no exception as Sleepy Eye’s very own Anna Surprenant will be an hand as one of the Aquatennial Royalty at the evening’s gala.

I encourage you to come out and bid Courtney well in her future endeavors but to support and encourage these seven young ladies as well.

Thought for the week: It’s incredibly easy to get caught up in an activity trap, in the business of life, to work harder and harder at climbing the ladder of success only to discover it’s leaning against the wrong wall.
