St. Mary’s girls basketball season came to an end after losing to Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity in the quarterfinal of the section 2A tournament on March 1st.

LPHT came out strong on their home court and outscored the Knights 38-17 in the first half.

St. Mary’s rallied back in the second half and scored evenly with LPHT with senior Maddy Helget scoring seven points. But this wasn’t enough to overcome the lead LPHT had in the first half.

“It was a tough night, but when we look back we had a nice season,” coach Bruce Woitas said. “I would like to thank our six seniors and wish them the best.”

The Knights have a lot to be proud of with their season. Helget scored over 1,000 points in her career, and the team ended with an impressive 17-10 overall record, not to mention winning 11 of their 16 conference games.
