Lorraine A. Roiger, age 85, of Sleepy Eye died on Monday, March 4, 2013, at Divine Providence Community Home, Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and will continue on Saturday from 7:30 until 9:30 a.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. Service will be held at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs, Leavenworth, on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. The clergy will be Fr. Andy Michels. Interment will be at the Japanese Martyrs Cemetery, in Leavenworth. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com
Lorraine Angeline Roiger was born on August 28, 1927 in Mulligan Township, Brown County, the daughter of John R. and Anna M. (Sellner) Windschitl. Lorraine married Arnold Joseph Roiger on August 28, 1958 at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. They lived and farmed in Albin Township from 1960 to 1992 when Arnold passed away. Lorraine moved to Sleepy Eye and later to Divine Providence for the last five years. Lorraine was blessed with many talents, creativity and had an artistic hand. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, needlework, vegetable and flower gardening, and decorating cakes. She served on church committees, extension groups and was a 4-H leader. Lorraine loved to see children learn and expand their own talents. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Gina (Dale) Windschitl of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Jacob and Cordell; brothers, Harold (Yvonne) Windschitl of Sleepy Eye and Ervin (Barbara) Windschitl of Sleepy Eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold on June 22, 1992; a son, Arlen; and daughter in infancy; and nephew, Tim Windschitl.
