Each month the Lions Club features a senior student as the Student of the Month. Molly Lax was chosen for Student of the Month for February.

At St. Mary’s School, Molly is involved in band, danceline, softball, Knowledge Bowl and is a member of the National Honor Society where she holds the office of president.

She is also an executive board member of the Student Council at her school, has held the role of student director for the school musical and is currently a dance team choreographer.

In her church Molly is involved with the CHAOS youth group, is a lector and mass server at her church and has volunteered her time collecting food donations for the Sleepy Eye Food Shelf.

She is also a dairy princess and ambassador. In her spare time she likes photography, helping out on the family farm, camping and spending time with family. Her work experiences include working at Schwartz Farms, Schutz Family Foods, Goettig Ruddy, Ltd. and is an instructor of Sleepy Eye Park and Rec.

Personal values and strengths that Molly says will help her succeed are her faith, knowledge and perseverance.

“I know that my faith will help me succeed in life and my personal strengths of knowledge and perseverance will enable me to meet any challenges that I will encounter head on and accomplish my goals,” Molly said.

The greatest influence in Molly’s life has been her parents, Ricky and Monica.

“They push me out of my comfort zone to try new things that I would never consider doing or believe myself able to do otherwise,” Molly said. “They are always there to give me the support and motivation I need to chase and eventually accomplish my dreams. The hard work and sacrifices they make on my behalf truly humbles me.”

Following graduation from high school Molly plans to attend a four year college and major in secondary English education with the goal of becoming a high school English teacher.
