  • Chris Flores was recently hired as a full-time sports reporter for the Sleepy Eye Herald-Dispatch.
     
    Chris Flores was born in Waconia and lived in Hutchinson until he and his family moved to Eau Claire, Wis. when he was five years old.
     
    He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in May of 2012, with a bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism.
     
    Chris’ experience in the world of sports is vast. He played baseball, soccer and basketball when he was younger and played on the varsity tennis team all four years of his high school career.
     
    Chris has been around the semi-professional baseball scene for over two years. He worked for the Eau Claire Express baseball team, a team that is a member of the Northwoods League, the same league that the Mankato MoonDogs are a part of.
     
    Chris worked at the main Eau Claire newspaper in the sports department, where he covered both high school and college sporting events.
     
    Chris will be covering as many high school sporting events in town as he can, along with writing various stories and helping out where needed.
     
    Chris has been dating his girlfriend Krystal for over five years. They recently bought a pure bred golden retriever puppy which they named Pearl. Krystal will be graduating in May with a degree in math education and will be looking for a job in the area.
     
    In his free time, Chris enjoys disc golfing, mountain biking, playing tennis, watching movies and playing video games.
