Marvelyn Viola Pedersen was born on August 14, 1917 in Tyler, Minn. to Otto and Mary (Matthews) Welsand. The family, including her identical twin sister Marjorie and younger sister Corrine lived on a farm four miles east of Arco, Minn. Marvelyn graduated from Arco High School in 1935. She was united in marriage to Eigil Pedersen on June 28, 1941 at English Lutheran Church in Arco. In 1945 they moved to Sleepy Eye where Eigil worked for Beech Electric until he established his own refrigeration business known as Pedersen Service. Marvelyn handled the phone calls, orders and accounting aspects of the business. "I loved working in the business with my husband, we enjoyed the time together." Marvelyn was active in the Methodist Church, a member of the VFW, Legion, Eastern Star, Hospital Auxiliary and was involved with Birthday Club and Unit. She would have been a great candidate for the "good neighbor award" with her many hours of assisting friends and neighbors. She was very kind and thoughtful and always had a cheerful presence. Her pleasures included gardening and raising roses, entertaining and enjoying life with friends and family.
She is remembered by her sons, James (Susan) Pedersen of Walker, Minn., Danny (Saundra) Pedersen of Lincoln City, Ore.; sister-in-law, Vivian Hansen of Tyler; two grandchildren, Ryan (Rachel) and Erik (Katie); 3 great-grandchildren, Lily, Zander and Kayden; and many relatives and friends.
Marvelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eigil Pedersen; sisters, Marjorie and Corrine; brothers-in-law, Carl Pedersen, Ronald Van Stelten, Ernst Hansen; and parents-in-law, Barthold and Dora Pedersen.
