Three River Valley speakers earned championship honors in their respective categories at Saturday’s Redwood Valley tournament, featuring over 250 speakers from 21 schools.
Brandon Roiger was a champion in informative speaking, Mariah Hoyt earned the highest honor in prose and Molly Dunn was the storytelling champion. River Valley placed seventh as a team. Worthington was the team champion.
Other River Valley speakers who were recognized include Isaac Kirschstein-5th place in original oratory; blue ribbon winners, Kalina Kastner-original oratory, Cody Schwartz-prose and Hannah Johnson-storytelling. Scott Vogel received a red ribbon in discussion.
Speakers will have next weekend off and will travel to Martin County West High School on Saturday, Feb. 23. Junior high speakers in grades 7-12 will compete at the T-M-B meet on Thursday, Feb. 21 in Tracy.
